Great bookstore! Friendly and courteous service. I am been a patron since 1993 and I love going there! It's a great place to browse. I always find that unexpected treasure
this bookshop is such a nice part of the Newtown community. Unlike the big store or other options, the staff is friendly and helpful. I like their events and they are a great place to find the latest book and/or to get help with selecting one.
My daughter received a book that she already had as a gift. In fairness to the gift giver we did get a gift receipt but I forgot it at my home in the city (Philadelphia) I only wanted to exchange for a different book of the same value and the clerk wouldn't make the exchange without a receipt. I did give my name in case the gift giver used it for the purchase, as I bought all of my books there as a child/ teen/ college student when I lived in newtown with my parents. Even with all of that previous business they wouldn't make the exchange. I had to go to target next to exchange a toy my daughter also already had. I did have the receipt for the toy and I tried to take the book back there because that's where I bought her first copy. Tatget took it back with no receipt and no questions asked. Unfortunately this is why small businesses suffer. The big box stores have superior customer service. I wasted 45 minutes in that bookstore with a toddler trying to choose a new book and she finally chose one and wasn't able to get it because the clerk at newtown book shop wouldn't accommodate an even exchange.
